Get those passports ready, folks. The world’s best airport – as named by Skytrax six years in a row – is about to get even better with the opening of the brand-new Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore on the 17th April 2019. And we couldn’t be more excited!
Featuring a unique steel and glass façade, the hugely-anticipated Jewel extension will be attached to Changi Terminal 1, with easy access from Terminals 2 and 3, and will be home to a vast array of options to help travellers dine, shop, play and stay, for hours on end.
With more than 280 shops and eateries, Jewel will also offer several first-in-Singapore brands such as Pokémon Center Singapore, Shake Shack, Burger & Lobster, Läderach and Pink Fish.
The jewel in the Jewel’s crown will be the Forest Valley – four storeys of lush landscaping with a 40-metre tall Rain Vortex waterfall the star feature. It will be the world’s largest indoor waterfall.
Opening in June 2019, the Canopy Park – on the topmost level of Jewel – will feature several interactive attractions, gardens and walking trails. Some of the attractions include Canopy Mazes, a Bouncing Net and a Walking Net, a 50m-long Canopy Bridge; and Discovery Slides – a 4-slides-in-1 sculptural playground that children and the young at heart can enjoy.
Jewel will also have its own 130-room YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport, ideal for busy travellers who need flexible check-in and check-out timings. Also available from April, passengers with late departures from Changi Airport will enjoy the convenience of early check-in for their flights with storage available even for their hand-carry luggage.
Mr. Ivan Tan, Group Senior Vice President, Corporate & Marketing Communications, at Changi Airport Group said, “Jewel’s unique mix of lush greenery and curated offerings that are a first in the region will add a new dimension to the overall #OnlyAtChangi experience for Australians. We are excited to welcome more travellers to Changi Airport, to a medley of new experiences integrating nature, play and retail.”
We’ll be travelling through Changi Airport next month and will be able to update with more information on the shiny new addition.
