Anantara Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of not one but two shiny new additions to its growing stable this week; Anantara Kalutara Resort in Sri Lanka and Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in Oman.
Anantara Kalutara Resort is the hotel group’s second property in Sri Lanka.
Designed by notable Sri Lankan architect, the late Geoffrey Bowa, it features 141 guest rooms, suites and pool villas with amazing views, private balconies and terraces overlooking the gardens, ocean or lagoon.
Only ten minutes from Kalutara, Anantara Kalutara makes a great base to explore the local area, experience a national park safari, or visit the UNESCO listed Dutch fort of Galle. For those who prefer to make use of the resort facilities during their stay, there is a Watersports Centre, the Anantara Spa offering Ayurvedic therapies, and a library dedicated to the late Bawa.
Over in Oman, the uniquely situated Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar is set 2,000 metres above sea level on a great canyon edge in the Al Hajar mountains.
A gateway to Oman’s ancient forts, souk markets and remote villages, the resort is just a 30-minute drive from the ancient city of Nizwa, known as the ‘Pearl of Islam’ and capital of Islamic culture. It is also just two hours drive from Muscat International Airport and four and a half hours from Dubai.
The luxury five star resort reflects the fortified architecture that Oman is renowned for, with a total of 115 guest rooms and villas overlooking either the dramatic canyon or tranquil gardens.
