‘Steep and strenuous’ is how Stanley locals describe the zigzag path leading to the top of The Nut, the remnants of an ancient volcanic plug towering over the seaside village. They’re not exaggerating. That said, if you’re in the mood to feel the burn (or the chairlift is closed for winter) it is absolutely worth tackling. We expected the windswept summit to be barren rock with maybe a few tufts of grass clinging on for dear life, yet were pleasantly surprised to find it covered in vegetation. Rising 143 metres above sea level, The Nut is actually adorned in flowering bushes, grasses and even some well-established trees. Driving across to the Wild West coast of Tassie and spotted a sign for Nelson Falls. Pulled in to discover this gem. It was a balmy 10 degrees in downtown Hobart this morning, and a brisk -1 up the summit of kunanyi / Mt Wellington — 1271 metres above sea level. Haven’t posted in a while. Time to get back on the horse with this shot from the incredible Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul. The Zaha Hadid-designed landmark is clad in 45,000 aluminium panels — some curved, others straight — and is surrounded by some of the coolest fashion outlets in the city. Inside? It’s home to multiple retail outlets, art installations and event facilities. The Design Lab at its core is THE place to go for locally made and designed souvenirs.
