Chris AshtonGaruda Indonesia has unveiled their all-new international business class this week, with 2-2-2 layouts ditched in favour of a more passenger friendly 1-2-1.
It’s a brave decision for the Indonesian carrier, which sees them reducing business class capacity from 42 seats in the current A330s to just 24.
On the flip side though, passenger comfort just got a whole lot better.
Garuda has implemented the Super Diamond design from B/E Aerospace, which is also found on the Virgin Australia Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 (albeit in a significantly more customised incarnation).
The seat features a full-flat bed, a 16-inch touchscreen entertainment screen, AC power outlet and two USB ports – you can never have too many of these.
Another announcement from Garuda is their new non-stop route from Jakarta (CGK) to London’s Heathrow Airport, giving Australians more options to visit Old Blighty. We recently flew economy from Perth to Jakarta and the service was fantastic – will definitely be considering this route in future!
The first four of Garuda’s 11 new Airbus A330-300 will be rolled out this year.
